Every year, a few heads of micronations take the opportunity of the end-of-year celebrations to send their wishes to their citizens.
These speeches, often brief, carry deep meaning: they demonstrate the fundamental values of micronations, reinforce their unique identity and build a bridge between the past, present and future. Analysis of these messages reveals varied styles and approaches, reflecting both the personalities of the leaders and the circumstances specific to each state. Microcosme looked at some of them to illustrate this diversity.
A classic and thoughtful approach, emphasizing universal and spiritual values.
Emperor Oscar of Karnia-Ruthenia addressed the citizens of his Empire on Christmas Eve, a message focused on his ten-year reign and the friendships that His Imperial Majesty was able to establish with a large number of Micronationalists. The Emperor emphasized the values of fraternity which transcend borders and which bring together men sharing micronationalism as a passion. A unifying message that corresponds well to The Emperor Oscar. What’s better for a Leader of an Empire than to talk about what brings people together? The exercise is all the more successful because Emperor Oscar carries his message with sincerity in the Christian values he evokes.
The illustration of a modern, daring and creative monarchy, which does not hesitate to introduce unique concepts.
Queen Carolyn of Ladonia shared an inspiring message in honor of the first half-day of Misunderstanding, equivalent to Christmas for other countries and micronations. This year, his message invited his fellow citizens to accept misunderstanding as a springboard towards creativity, connection and wonder. Queen Carolyn also spoke about the past year, from the resilience of her fellow citizens to the dedication of those who care for Nimis and Arx. A message that resonates strongly in the ears of his fellow citizens after the drama of the fire in Nimis, capital of the Micronation.
A dynamic and festive style, in perfect harmony with the jovial and friendly image of its Micronation.
Prince Jean-Pierre IV of Aigues-Mortes always speaks on the evening of December 31 to express his wishes. This year, Prince Jean-Pierre IV focused his message on the notion of pleasure as a driving force for collective achievement and success. He returns to a few examples such as that of the Godet d’or 2024 to illustrate this notion of succeeding through the pleasure of doing. Finally, the Prince wanted to mark the vote of approval which approved Jean-Emanuel de Bérémagne in 2024 as Crown Prince of the Principality of Aigues-Mortes. Kind and enthusiastic wishes to bring the Principality's future projects to fruition.
A look back at the significant events of 2024 to demonstrate the growing dynamism of its micronation.
For the second time this year, Prince Vincent 1st of Hélianthis presented his wishes to his fellow citizens on January 8 from the Château "Marquis de Vauban", the place which hosted the tin jubilee celebrations of the Principality of 'Helianthis. Prince Vincent 1st made several returns in his speech on the many past events throughout the year 2024. Wishes which clearly showcase the remarkable evolution of this micronation, in particular by developing intelligent collaboration with a large number of local associations.
An address to settle scores
For once, in Saint-Castin, it was the Head of Government and not the Head of State who addressed the fellow citizens of Neugraviat. Minister-President Dominic Desaintes, so to speak, breaks the codes of a traditional message of kind wishes to focus in part on reproaches against other micronationalists without naming them. The message is surprising because it takes a turn of settling scores which does not hide a certain bitterness.
Dominic Desaintes is also the Secretary-General of Microfrancophonie. He has just been re-elected after leading an intense and successful campaign on improving dialogue and listening within the organization. In his wishes, he already announced that he would not run for the post of Secretary-General of Microfrancophonie, even though his mandate has barely begun. For the Neugraviate of Saint-Castin, 2025 should still be an excellent year, since the micronation is co-organizing the MicroCon of Montreal with the American Empire and the Principality of Sancratosia.
In a world where each micronation seeks to exist with singularity, it is interesting to observe a parallelism with the wishes pronounced by the great heads of state of the planet. Whether you are a micronation or a recognized state, the issue is the same. It is a moment aimed at bringing the nation together either by positioning itself around common values, or by turning wrath towards a designated enemy - or not - of the regime in place. Everyone will see which of these two methods seems to be the best for unifying their fellow citizens towards a common future. Microcosme.info wishes you an excellent year 2025 and will be proud to be present at the two micronational events of the year.
